Completed in 2016, this project on the Encampment River was designed to alleviate the need of future push up dams at both the Cherokee Ditch and the Wagner Ditch points of diversion. The goal was accomplished by NSE implementing the design of in-stream grade control structures using large boulders at both locations to create enough differential head to ensure that the down valley irrigators receive their adjudicated water. By building the permanent boulder diversion structures the river beds’ profile was elevated, causing the need of additional grade control structures downstream to accommodate this grade drop for proper fish passage. Funding was provided by Wyoming TU, Wyoming Game & Fish and Saratoga Encampment Rawlins Conservation District.
