The Linville River Phase 3 project in Linville, NC was constructed in 2016 utilizing NRCS Western North Carolina Stream Initiative Funding. This 2,475-linear foot project, was designed and constructed to re-instate flood plain connectivity by utilizing aquatic structures that maintain the depth and width of its stable state. Toe Wood revetments were also installed using native materials for bank stabilization and aquatic habitat. Being trout waters, another objective was to create a dimension, pattern and profile more appropriate to the valley and stream type of the Linville River at this location. This was accomplished by deepening the pools for holding areas and narrowing the riffles to ensure the pool depths will remain scoured in future high water events
