Completed in 2016, the Lower Dempsey Mitigation Bank funded by Eco – Investment Partners is a 700-acre bank located in Logan, West Virginia that was an abandoned strip mine. The project consisted of 15,088 linear feet of tributary work and 6,350 linear feet of in-stream construction on the main channel. 38 miles of relic haul roads were decommissioned to help discourage local ATV traffic. All materials for this project were obtained on the 700-acre site for all revetments. The main goals were to create stabile channels using grade control with logs and rock and to also provide a friendlier environment for the local ecosystem for the establishment of stream credits.
